Book Mark No. 6608

Materials: "STAR" Tatting Cotton, Article 25 or '"STAR"
Mercerized Crochet Cotton, Article 30, Size 30. Quantity: 1
ball, White or Color.

Steel Crochet Hook No. 12 or No. 13.

Ch 8, join to form a ring, ch 4, * thread over hook twice,
insert in ring, pull through and work off 2 loops twice,
repeat from * once, thread over and work off all loops at
one time, ** ch 5, sl st in 3rd st from hook for picot, ch
2. * thread over hook twice, insert in ring, pull through
and work off 2 loops twice, repeat from * twice, thread over
and work off all loops at one time (cluster st), repeat from
** 6 times, ch 5, sl st in 3rd st from hook for picot, ch 2,
join in 1st cluster st, break thread.

Work another motif in same manner joining to first motif as
follows: * cluster st in ring, ch 3, sl st in corresponding
picot of 1st motif, ch 1 and complete picot, ch 2, repeat
from once and complete motif same as 1st motif, break
thread. Work 3 more motifs in same manner joining all motifs
same as 2nd motif leaving 2 picots free on each side of each
motif. Work 1 motif for each arm of cross joining to 2 free
picots of 2nd motif from top of cross in some manner.

EDGE--Attach thread in left picot of lower edge of cross, *
ch 7, s c in next picot, repeat from * twice, ch 7, s c in
joining picots, * ch 7, s c in next picot, ch 7, s c in next
picot, ch 7, s c in joining picots, repeat from * once, ch
7, s c in joining picots, continue all around in same
manner.

Next Row--5 s c over next loop, ch 4., 5 s c over same loop,
repeat from beginning all around, break thread.

CORD--Crochet a ch about 3 inches long, s c in 2nd st from
hook, 1 s c in each remaining st of ch, break thread.

TASSEL: Wind 60 strands of thread over o 1 1/2 inch
cardboard, cut one end, tie in center, then tie about 1/4
inch down from top. Fasten tassel to end of cord. Fasten
other end of cord to lower edge of cross.

Quantity: 1 ball White or Color desired. 1/4 yd. Narrow
Ribbon.

Steel Crochet Hook No. 12 or No. 13. Ch 11, d c in 4th st
from hook, d c in next st of ch, ch 2, skip 2 sts of ch, sl
st in next st, ch 2, skip 2 sts of ch. 1 d c in each of the
next 2 sts, ch 3, turn.

2nd Row--D c in next d c, ch 5, 1 d c in next d c, d c in
3rd st of ch, ch 3 to turn each row.

3rd Row--Repeat 2nd row.

4th Row--D c in next d c, ch 2, skip 2 sts of ch, sl st in
next st, ch 2, 1 d c in next d c, d c in 3rd st of ch.

Repeat 2nd, 3rd and 4th rows 8 times, break thread. Attach
thread in top of d c of 22nd row and working along side, ch
3, d c in next st, ch 5, skip 1 row, 1 d c in each of the
next 2 sts, ch 3 turn.

Repeat 2nd, 4th, 2nd, 3rd and 4th rows once, break thread.

Work other arm of cross to correspond.

EDGE--Attach thread at lower edge, * ch 3, d c in same
space, skip the length of a d c, sl st in next st, repeat
from * all around, break thread. Lace ribbon through beading
as illustrated.
