MATERIALS: J. &. P. COATS KNIT-CRO-SHEEN, Art. A.64, 1
ball of No.76 Robinette and a few yards of No. 123-A
Flamingo; or Clark’s O.N.T. Mercerized Bedspread - Cotton,
Art. B.504: 1 ball of a color of your own choice and a few
yards of a contrasting color; or
J.& P. Coats or Clark’s O.N.T. Pearl Cotton, Art. A. or
B.19, Size 5: 2 balls of No. 24-C Bermuda and a few yards of
a contrasting color.
Milwards Steel Crochet Hook No. 7. An oval cake of soap.
Starting at mouth with Flamingo, ch 13. 1st row: Sc in 2nd
ch from hook and in each ch across. Break off.
2nd row: Attach Robinette to first sc, ch 5, (dc in next sc,
ch 2) 4 times; dc in next sc. Ch 5, turn.
3rd row: Skip first dc, (dc in next dc, ch 2) 4 times; ch 2,
skip 2 ch, dc in next ch. Ch 5, turn.
4th and 5th rows: Dc in first dc, * ch 2, dc in next dc.
Repeat from * across, ending with dc in last dc, ch 2, skip
2 ch, in next ch make dc, ch 2 and dc. Ch 5, turn.
6th, 7th and 8th rows: Dc in first dc, ch 2, dc in next dc.
Repeat from * across, ending with dc in last dc, ch 2, skip
2 ch, dc in next ch. Ch 5, turn.
9th to 19th rows incl: Skip first dc, * dc in next dc, ch 2.
Repeat from across, ending with dc in last dc, ch 2, skip 2
ch, dc in next ch. Ch 5, turn.
TAIL 1st row: Skip first dc, (dc in next dc, ch 2) 4 times;
dc in next dc, tr in next dc. Ch 4, turn.
2nd row: Skip first sp, (dc in next dc, ch 2) 3 times; skip
2 ch, dc in next ch. Ch 5, turn.
3rd row: Skip first dc, (dc in next dc, ch 2) twice; dc in
next dc, tr in next dc. Ch 4, turn.
4th row: Skip first sp, (dc in next dc, ch 2) twice; skip 2
ch, dc in next ch. Ch 5, turn.
5th row: Skip first dc, dc in next dc, tr in next dc. Ch 4,
turn; skip 2 ch, dc in next ch. Break off. Attach thread at
base of Tail and complete other half of Tail to correspond.
Attach Robinette to next sc on first row and make another
piece the same way. Holding both pieces together and working
through both thicknesses to join, attach Robinette to first
sp at Tail and working across body, make 2 sc in each sp
across to mouth Break off. Attach thread to opposite side
and work in same manner. Attach thread to opening at Tail
and sc closely around. Join and break off.
EYE (Make 2) . With Flamingo, ch 8. Join with sI st to form
ring, make 10 sc in ring. Join and break off. Sew Eyes in
place.
Attach Flamingo to top of body 2 inches from mouth, sc in
same place, (ch 10, sc in next sc) 7 times. Break off.
Attach Flamingo to bottom 3/4 inch from mouth, sc in same
place, (ch 4, sc in next sc) 8 times. Break off.
With double strand of Robinette make a chain 20 inches long.
Lace chain through last row of sps on body, insert soap and
tie into a bow.
