Hat Pin Cushion Crochet Pattern

MATERIALS–A partial ball Lily Pearl Cotton, size 5, in
Orange; 1-skein Lily Six Strand Floss in Black (or other
colors). Crochet hook size 5. 1-hat pin.
In Orange, ch 6, sl st in 1st st. Ch 3, 17 dc in ring, sl st
in 3-ch. Ch 1, sc in same st, in both loops, (2 sc in next
dc, 1 sc in next) repeated around, sl st in 1-ch. Turn, (ch
3, in back loops, sl st in next sc, ch 1, sl st in next)
repeated around. Fasten off. ** Turn, join Black to
remaining loops of Row 2, * ch 3 thread over, (swing hook
forward and down, thread over under ch, swing hook forward
and up and thread over above ch) repeated until there are 13
loops on hook, thread over and pull thru all loops at once,
1 sc on ch at base of knot (a Clones Knot), sl st in next 3
sc. Repeat from * 5 times. Fasten off. Make 7 Black French
Knots on center. Make a 2d circle but omit Clones Knots. Cut
2 cardboard circles inside Row 2, and glue one to back of
each circle. Sew circles together back-to-back, inserting
hat pin head between.

No. 27 Hat Pin
MATERIALS–A partial ball Lily Pearl cotton, size 5 in
Mid-Apple Green. 1-yd. each of 8 colors Lily Six Strand
Floss. Crochet hook size 5. 1-hat pin.
In Green, ch 2, 6 sc in 1st st. In back loops, (2 sc in next
sc) 6 times. (1 sc in next, 2 sc in next) 6 times. (Sc in 2
sc, 2 sc in next sc) 6 times. Sc in 72 sc (3 rows). (Sk 1
sc, sc in 6 sc) repeated until 11 sc are left, insert hat
pin head and stuff hard with cotton. (Sk 1, sc in 2 sc)
repeated until 6 sc are left, stuff and close with sl sts.
Cover with French Knots, –12 to 15 knots in each
color,–wound 6 times around needle.

No. 28–”Hat” Pincushion

MATERIALS–Lily Pearl Cotton, size 3:–2-balls Blue; 1/2
ball Lily Sil-Tone Mercerized Crochet Cotton in White (or
other colors). Crochet hook size 3 and 10. 1/2″ yd. White
ribbon 1/2″ wide.

CROWN–In Blue and size 3 hook, ch 2, 7 sc in 1st st. In
both loops, (2 sc in next sc) 7 times. (1 sc in next, 2 sc
in next, 2 sc in next) 7 times. (Sc in 2 sc, 2 sc in next) 7
times. Make 5 more rows with 1 more sc between widenings in
each row (63 sc in final row). Make 8 rows even. SI st in 6
sts. Fasten off.

BRIM–In Blue, ch 2, 8 sc in 1st st. In back loops, (2 sc in
next sc) 8 times. (1 sc in next, 2 sc in next) 8 times. Make
6 more rows with 1 more sc between widenings in each row (72
sc in final row). In Rows 8 and 9, put widenings between
those in previous row. Sl st in next, ch 3, dc in 7 sc, (2
dc in next sc, dc in 8 sc) repeated around. Sl st in 3-ch.
Ch 3 and in both loops, widen in every 5th st. In next row,
widen in every 6th dc. (Ch 5, sc in next 4th dc) 27 times,
ch 2, dc in next 4th dc. (Ch 5, sc in next loop) 28 times.
Fasten off.

FLOWER–In Sil-Tone and size 10 hook, * ch 9, tr in 9th st
from hook, (ch 5, sc in 5th st from hook for a p, ch 1, tr)
twice in same st with tr, ch 6, sl st in same st. Repeat
from * 15 times. Roll up in 2 complete turns and tack. Make
